Getting Past the Surface, Where the Smell Lives

A pet accident on carpet doesn't stay on top. Urine soaks straight through the fibres into the backing and the pad underneath, and sometimes into the subfloor. Blotting the surface makes the spot look better, but the source is still down there. On a humid day, or when the heat comes on, the smell rises again, and to your dog or cat it says "this spot is fine to use."

Getting rid of it means reaching that lower layer: finding every spot, breaking down the urine salts with an enzyme treatment that's given time to work, and then extracting from below the surface. It's slower than a regular clean, and it's the only approach that really works. Call +1 226-540-1084 or send the form, and let us know roughly how many spots and how old they are.

Signs Urine Has Reached the Pad

  • The smell comes back after cleaning. Especially on warm or damp days.
  • A stain reappears days later. Moisture from below wicks it back up.
  • Yellow or brown rings. Older urine changes the colour of the fibres.
  • The carpet feels stiff in one spot. Dried urine salts left behind.
  • Your pet keeps returning to the same place. They can smell what you can't.

What Cleaning Can and Can't Fix

We'd rather be straight with you than promise something we can't deliver.

What cleaning usually fixes: fresh and recent accidents, odour in the carpet fibres and backing, surface stains from vomit, mud and food, and general pet smell from a dog who lies on the rug.

What cleaning may not fully fix: urine that has soaked the pad over months or years, odour that has gone into the wooden subfloor, and permanent colour change. Old urine can chemically alter carpet dyes, leaving a mark even once it's clean and odour-free.

If we think a spot has reached the pad or subfloor badly, we'll tell you before charging for treatment. In those cases the real fix is to lift the carpet, replace that section of pad and seal the subfloor, which is a job for a flooring installer. We can explain what to ask for.

Why home remedies can make it worse. Steam from household machines and some sprays can heat-set the proteins in urine and make stains permanent. Vinegar and baking soda can mask a smell for a day without removing the source. For a fresh accident: blot with paper towel, rinse lightly with cool water, blot again, and call us.

Pet Stain Questions

Can you get dog urine smell out completely?

Often, yes, especially for recent accidents. Older urine that has soaked the pad or subfloor may leave some odour even after treatment. We'll give you an honest read once we've seen it.

Is the enzyme treatment safe for my pets?

Once the carpet is dry, pets can go back on it. Keep them off while it's damp so they don't track solution around or lick it.

Should I clean a fresh accident myself first?

Yes, gently. Blot up as much as you can with paper towels, rinse with a little cool water and blot again. Avoid heat, scrubbing and strong fragranced sprays.
